Welcome, my name is Matt Whetstone and have recently finished my student teaching at Breckenridge Elementary School in Breckenridge, Michigan. I had a magnificent experience in Mrs. Sklener's, my cooperating teacher's,
classroom. I am in dept to her for allowing me to take over her class and allowing me to teach her amazing students.
I am originally from Whittemore, Michigan where I was brought up by my two wonderful parents Marty
and Barbara Whetstone. Currently, I attend Alma College where I am majoring in Elemetary Education and minoring
in Mathematics and English. I have been inspired by many educators, including my mother, in my pursuit
of becoming one myself. While attending Alma College, I played two years of football after which I had the opportunity
to coach for another two years as a result of multiple injuries. Coaching is an aspiration that I would like to
continue to pursue, but teaching is my number one priority, since both go hand-in-hand, it works perfect.

This website provides a look of who Matt Whetstone is as a teacher. Through my philosophy of education,
classroom management plan, lesson plans, thematic unit plan, who I am as an individual and my style of teaching will stand
out. In my student teaching classroom I created a thematic unit plan on simple machines. I linked the unit
with other disciplines and used hands-on activities, class discussions, and a field trip to discover simple machines.
I used a variety of assessments such as, rubrics, observation, oral discussions, and written tests. You will see
these and other experiences I encountered in my classroom.
