Teaching Experience

Student Teaching—3rd Grade Elementary (January 2, 2007—April 20, 2007)  Breckenridge Elementary, Mrs. Cheryl Sklener (Cooperating Teacher)

§         Implemented a positive discipline plan that promoted student responsibility, problem solving skills, and student accountability.

§         Used small and large group activities to encourage social communicating, teaching, and understanding.

§         Developed a thematic unit on simple machines around the major curriculum goals.

§         Created hands-on activities for math, science, writing, and spelling.

§         Completed lessons on various subjects including language arts, social studies, science, math, spelling, and reading.

§         Used hands-on/minds-on experiences, and interdisciplinary teaching.

Practicums

(130 Hours).  Observed classrooms and taught lessons one-on-one, to small groups, and to the whole class.  Grades, 2-5.

Hillcrest Elementary—2nd Grade, Ms. Teresa Richter—Special Education (January 2005—March 2005), 8 hours of involvement.

 

§         Observed teacher’s classroom management and lessons being taught.

§         Worked with an Emotionally Impaired student.

§         Involved with discipline and promoted student responsibility, problem solving skills, and accountability.

 

Ithaca North Elementary—5th Grade, Ms. Linda Koebert (January 2006—April 2006), 40 hours of involvement.

 

§         Observed teacher’s classroom management and lessons being taught.

§         Completed lessons and activities for math, science, social studies and language arts.

§         Duties included organizing activities, and expanding interest in learning.

 

Vestaburg Elementary—2nd Grade, Ms. Ronda Judge (September 2006—December 2006, 40 hours of involvement.

 

§         Created and implemented literature units on comprehension.

§         Developed and used literacy box/tools in development of struggling readers.

§         Taught lessons one-one-one, small groups, and to whole class. 

§         Completed lessons on various children’s books and themes.

Transported canoes and people to destination.  Managed fellow employees and helped customers when needed.

Professional Goals

§         Commitment to be the best teacher for every child I have the opportunity to teach.

§         Maintain and continue with the most effective teaching methods by attending workshops, interacting with fellow colleagues for advice, and learning new strategies from each class I teach.  I will be a positive influence in the lives of my students, their families, and my fellow teachers.
